Race Day Celebration With A Difference

The Great Chase Grand Final, staged at Melbourne’s The Meadows greyhound track on Wednesday, October 18, was again a fitting crescendo to a series that applauds the fantastic work of disability support groups throughout Victoria.

Since the concept began in 2003, Greyhound Racing Victoria has proudly donated $800,000 across the disability sectors of Victoria.

Disability groups are invited to the Great Chase series each year, and allocated greyhounds to cheer for on the day, with groups on course at the Grand Final sharing in $5000.

The winning organizations for 2023 were St. John of God Community Campus in Sydenham and Blairlogie Living and Learning, who each collected $1750, followed by Latrobe All Ability Sports ($750), then Wintringham Ron Conn and Enjoy Disability ($375 apiece).

A total of $45,000 was distributed to the disability sector across the 2023 Great Chase series – which was held across nine of Victoria’s racetracks in recent weeks.

Close to 300 people attended the Great Chase Grand Final race meeting with the carnival atmosphere making it a day to remember!
