Victorian greyhound club raising funds for Ovarian Cancer
On 10 February Bendigo Greyhound Racing Association (BGRA) joined forces with the Bendigo Harness Racing Club (BHRC) to raise funds for WomenCan, and awareness for Women’s Ovarian Cancer through the ‘Team Teal’ initiative.
Team Teal is a partnership with the Harness Racing industry in Australia and New Zealand – and is a significant contributor to fundraising for women with ovarian cancer – which BGRA is proud to support.
The club will hosted a special function in the recently refurbished ‘Past The Post Lounge’ which was covered in teal colours, and on the track the BGRA promoted an all female race card of advertised events.
In the month of February as well as on the night, for every female trainer who won a race, the club donated $50 to Team Teal.
“Thanks to the support of Greyhound Racing Victoria and the racing department there were two feature events offering $5,000 to the winner.” said BGRA manager Charlton Hindle.
“The BGRA has been a strong community club for many years however the last two years have impacted that connection so it’s great to get back to conducting charity events in 2022 and it’s an honour to be involved with the BHRC and Team Teal.
“Our aim is through promotions during February and other initiatives on the night, to raise somewhere around $10,000 for the cause” added Hindle.
